Antoher FREAKY Found Animal

Here is another FREAKY animal story. I wonder where people actually "find" these things and how much is camera trickery.

But this was a FREAKY critter so I had to share.

Click here to follow a Fox News Story regarding our "crawfish" looking friend.

The end of the story went like this:

Responses to the original post ranged from the curious to the horrified.

One reader notes the connection between the isopod and a more familiar household pest: "The giant isopod is related to the "woodlouse"-- turns out this is the common bug that I grew up calling a "roly poly" or pillbug. Neat!"

Others were more disgusted with the crustacean. "I remember watching some documentary (Blue Planet maybe?) with a time lapse of these things swarming a whale carcass. it was horrifying," writes one reader. another

One reader saw nothing but dinner in the flesh of the behemoth bug, writing "It could be because I really like seafood, but those isopods look tasty. Land bugs = ew! Sea bugs = mm mmm good

It is shaping up to be a good night

This morning I woke to more cold rainy weather. So ready for some warmer weather. MD had to get going early this morning so that left me to deal with morning grumpy kids. But it was all good. Devin actually got up after only three visits from me, that is better than most mornings.

Devin's probation officer and I had a chat today. I got in trouble for allowing him to do sleep overs (without her permission, but I explained that they were rewards. She agreed that it was a good idea but I had to contact her first. Well that would all be fine and good except we usually decide to do these on a Saturday (always last minute) and we cannot get a hold of her after 5 or on weekends. Apparently he had the same idea because had called her with the request of doing sleep overs if I was okay with it.

Work was QUIET! Love that, I accomplished A LOT. But it did start dragging as I noticed the weather getting nicer outside. Had a beautiful ride home, windows down and music blarring (yea I am one of those people), and dancing in my seat. Now I am cooking dinner for friends that are coming over this evening.

Felicia got her intership she applied for at the Butterfly House. She is so excited! But of course it is not a "paying" intership. So I asked if she was going to look for a "paying" job so that I could get her off "my payrol". She laughed and said yea, but that would be something she was going to wait till she got home from school for. So I have a few more months of Felicia getting part of my pay check then I can go back to stashing cash into savings again!

Pretty boring life hu? Yea but it is all good, I don't care for drama and I have had enough of that to last for a long while.

Where is the sun?

It is raining again. At least it is NOT snow, but I am so ready for warmer weather.

I need some sun to get rid of the ho-hums.

A Little Giggle and a Little Wiggle

Friday my sister, Jodi, and I decided we wanted to go dancing on Saturday night. I wanted MD & Le to go with us, but oh no they did not want anything to do with that. The party poopers!

So we all decided to go to Harra's casino, we went to dinner at the steak house (yea cannot remember the name just now), then the girls and I went to the Vodoo Lounge and the guys went to gamble.

For the first time in YEARS I was carded. I asked the bounder if he was kidding. He said he had to card anyone who did not look over 30. I just looked at him, laughed and told him I LOVE YOU and gave him a hug. Then handed him my ID and told him I was the oldest in the group. He looked at my ID then to me and said he would have never guessed I was 43. Lier but that's okay made me feel good anyway.

The band playing was Paint the Earth. We discussed (like school girls) which one we thought was the "cutest". Jodi was all up into the singer, Audrey and I dug the base player. To me the singer looked like he might have been in his early (if that) thirties, but the base player looked more my age and looked FINE.

Yea I am married but so not blind or dead.

Anyway, we had a really good time. I even enjoyed the free drinks I was getting from the guys hitting on my sister and Jodi. When I snuck away to see MD he wanted to know how many were hitting on me. Told him none, duh wedding ring. He said I was supposed to tell him all kinds were.

He is such a goober.

Caffine Please

I am in serious need of coffee!
MD usually makes the coffee in the morning. He is out of town on business which leave me to do it, get the kids up, straighten the house up, get the kids up again, get ready for work, get the kids up again, take the dogs out, and get Devin up again.
I need that guy to come home quick.

On Hold once again

This morning I took time off from the day job to call the IRS (as they requested) to complete the application for an EIN (employer identification number) for MD's remodeling company.
I sat on hold for 30 minutes, spoke with someone for 30 minutes just to find out I need to do it all over again sitting next to a fax machine. This sucks!
So I guess I will have to stay at work late after all just to do this all over again. Hopefully there is nothing ELSE they will need that I don't have right in front of me.

Another New Adventure

So MD has been doing construction as a "side" job for like the last 15 years. We have never advertised, we have only gotten new jobs by word of mouth. He worked alone most of the time every now and again he would recruit help but for the most part he has been a loner. For the longest time people would WAIT until MD had an opening to get work done. We had one gentleman wait over 15 months to get a garage built. Now in our defence he did decide to get a basement done first which bumped the garage to a later date. But still he refused to have anyone else do the work. And he lives across the street from a construction contractor. We thought that was funny.

MD is SOOO busy that almost two years ago he started working with one of our neighbors who was in construction. Jim was in a lull so to say thanks to the downside of the economy so he was happy to work. MD has since had enough work to work Jim full time and even hire on another worker. Kevin started as a part time helper but has learned enough to start working almost full time.

So we have decided to become an OFFICIAL COMPANY. Talk about scary and a bunch of freaking paperwork. Holy cow first we had to file with the state of Missouri, once that was done (thank goddess they let you do it all online now) I had to go to the IRS website and file with them. I apparently did something wrong because now I have to call an 800 number to complete the process.

A bit of advise to anyone who has to call to get an EIN number from the IRS, BE PREPARED TO WAIT. I sat on hold 20 minutes the first time and had to hang up since I was at my "real job". I tried again later in the afternoon and waited again for 20 minutes and had to get off. So tomorrow I am taking a 1/2 day at work to get this done. Then off to the bank to open a checking account (to keep him out of our personal account).

THEN I need to design our website. Not that we need it to attract business, but it will be easier to send potential customers to see the work we have done.

And MD thinks he has it rough building the stuff, now I have to keep the records on it. Guess it is time to suck it up.

Got Beef?

Do you have a restaurant that you can never get a enough of? We do, it's Texas Roadhouse. We must go there at least once a week (more if MD had his way).

I got home from work yesterday and the first thing out of MD was "you wanna go to Roadhouse"? Hum, let's see.... an amazing steak dinner that I do not have to cook or clean up after. I do believe that answer to that would be a resounding YES.

His next question was "where are Felicia and Rolland"? That I had no answer too, so I called her. She said they were at her boyfriends house. I told her daddy wanted to know if she and Rolland wanted to go to Roadhouse. It was funny how fast she ditched her original plans with the boyfriend and high tailed it home. MD said he knew that would get her home. I had to laugh. He is always complaining that he never gets to see her when she is home.

It was just the four of us (Devin never eats out and Mikayla was at a friends for dinner), and we had a VERY good time. Of course we did our questioning of Rolland (it is what we do). What part of Alaska was he from, what does his parents do, how did he end up going to a University in Missouri, what was he going to school for, etc. Rolland was a good sport about the questioning. MD challenged him into getting the biggest cut of steak they have and told him "there was no way he could eat it all". MD was proved VERY wrong. For a little guy he can definitely put away the food. Not one scrap left on his plate. I have no idea where he put it all.

Felicia and Rolland disappeared for the night after we returned home. Someone else from school was having a party and they wanted to go. I told them to spend the night as I did not want her drinking and driving. And I did not want to be woke up in the middle of the night by our barking dogs. They are little but noisy (I do mean the dogs).

See I told you, I lead a very quiet dull life. But I am not complaining.

Sup???

I sit here trying to catch up on everyone blog lives. And wonder.....do all of you REALLY have such exciting lives or is it that you are all just able to tell ordinary things in extraordinary ways. Story telling is definitely not in my arsenal of talents. So kudos to all you great story tellers!

Anywaaaayy.

Felicia is home for spring break. Too broke to go anywhere else (and no I am NOT giving her MORE money to go on a trip) so she came home. She brought home a friend with her. His name is Rolland (a.k.a. vampire which is Mikayla's nickname for him)and he is from Alaska.

He is such a laid back fellow (which is a really good thing with staying here for the entire week), very polite, gets along with everyone here and all her friends at school, AND most importantly he has not gotten on MD's nerves.

He is currently sitting here with Mikayla quizzing her for a Social Studies test tomorrow. I think Mikayla is developing a slight crush. She thinks he is "cool" and "fun". It is a good thing he feels comfortable sitting here without Felicia, she is currently up in her room on the phone arguing with her boyfriend.

I personally think they are "cute" together. They look a lot alike. And he is the perfect height for her.......she is 5' and he is 5'5".

They been to the butterfly house (because she had an interview for an internship), Union Station, the Arch, Bush Wildlife. Tomorrow she said that they are going to a few museums. That is if they get up before noon. She said they also plan on hitting the Science Center.

A Birthday Party He Will Not Soon Forget

MD's birthday party once again was a surprise to him.

He repeatedly said that he did not want a party. HA is all I had to say to that!

I am actually very surprised myself that I was able to pull it off without him finding out.

I thought for sure he had suspicions. He did get very sneaky.

I had originally planned to have the party at a place called SpyBar. Michele, Jodi, and I went one evening in December (under the veil that we were Christmas shopping) and fell in love with the place. And the name went perfectly with the James Bond party theme.

But as time went by I had kept trying to contact the manager to get things finalized and I kept getting no answer. One night in January I called the number again and it was disconnected. Needless to say I FREAKED.

I went on a mad scramble to secure another location. I thought I was doomed. It was very difficult locating another restaurant/bar that would be able to accommodate the group I had coming. Finally I contacted one of MD's Pepsi clients, it was a newly opened establishment. Rich was all for it, and so excited. He normally did not cater but said that he wanted to do it up right for MD.

Finally I had a place so I got back on the ball making his invitations.

And got them mailed as quick as I could as it was about three weeks before the date that I was having the party. And it could not be changed as I had people coming in from out of town and tickets were already purchased.

In the mean time Mr. sneaky britches was rooting though my email seeing if he could find out if I was up to something. He found an email from a photographer I hired for the party.

He had been dropping hints for about a week and a half that he knew something was up. So I fessed up. Told him that I DID plan a party. I confessed everything........well everything about the party at SpyBar. But I told him that SpyBar closed. That they turned into an under 21 club!

I told him about the other places I tried. Told him about the manager at Blue Sky (what a JERK). Told him that I was unable to locate another location that would close a section for us on a Saturday evening. They all said that they could not accommodate the size party I was planning. So he was getting his wish, he was NOT getting a party.

The following day he informed me "HE" received an email from a photographer saying she was going to meet me at SpyBar. Sneaky bugger! I asked him to give me the email. That I needed the phone number or email to let them know the party was canceled. But he said he deleted it. How convenient!

I kept that ruse up until the very end!

Now the excuse to get him dressed up you ask???
Well that is another creative fib I had to come up with. My neighbor Michele is a nurse in a cardiac cath lab. SOOOOOO we came up with ....... now wait here it comes......

The St. Louis Heart Association Annual Dinner Benefit

Jim & Michele said they had two extra tickets and wanted us to go with them. Totally worked like a charm!!!! Oh, and why were we going to Maxwells first? Well had that covered also. Michele said that they were meeting another nurse there and then going to the banquet hall. She even had another friend of ours call her while we were on our way "asking where we were at".
Michele was perfect. She even explained the personalities of the "doctors" that would be attending the dinner. She had Mike totally fooled!

The party was great. Mike has not relaxed that much in YEARS. I mean he danced, talked, played, ate and drank.

He got silly with me and the kids (yes I talked the bar owner into allowing Devin & Mikalya in the bar until 9pm). We had an all male dance review (they kept their clothes on however) going on early in the evening. It was soo funny seeing all these grown men dancing on the dance floor with absolutely no women out there. And having fun.

No one had a care in the world it seemed.

Devin was amazing and so well behaved. And some of MD's coworkers were flirting with him. Devin just ate it up. But I have to admit he did clean up good!

MD's sister, brother in-law, and nephew came in from Georgia. I was disappointed, I barely got to speak with them.

His Aunt Sophi also came. I just LOVE this woman. I have known her since I was a kid. I have known MD's cousin Jon since I was 15. He is partially the reason MD & I met. But that is another story for another day.

MD and I use to dance all the time. I have missed that and it was so much fun just letting loose and dancing all night.
We danced with everyone. And had a lovely time.
